There are certainly sad stories of real people, who are still struggling to start a new life again. However, unsolicited contacts are often fraud or phishing attempts. In the Philippines many of the girls are legitimate and honest, but avoiding the fraud is no easy task.Others claim to have a missing child or a hospitalized mother due to the disaster, and they need money to locate them or solve their health situation.
My friends tried to warn me that this was a bad situation, and so I stopped talking to them.
My gut told me this was bad, and so I stopped letting my gut talk to me. I chose not to see things as they were and instead focused on how I wanted things to be.
Instead I felt constantly on edge, painfully insecure, drained, and sad. In the end, he was the one who left, and as expected I felt gutted.
It was only when the relationship inevitably imploded that I was able to see just how toxic the situation had been and how badly it had damaged my sense of self.
Remember, if you are being abused, it’s not your fault. You have the right to feel safe and to live a life free from fear.
